Cross Country

This day was an exciting day! I am talking to you about Cross Country. After the short walk to Nayland College we got sorted into our house colours. Then we watched other student's races as we waited for ours to begin. For some of us it was a long wait! The order was five year olds, six year olds, seven year olds, eight year olds, nine year olds, ten year olds and finally eleven year olds. Two weeks later the competitive winners went to inter-schools. It was fun and I think everyone did great!

Tree Planting

Tree planting

On 6 August we went tree planting at Tahunanui Beach. To get there, we went on a bus. When we got off the bus we had to walk a little. The people talked to us and showed us a skink. Then he showed us how to do the planting. We had to dig a hole, then put the plant into the hole and fill the hole back up with sand.  Then we gently used out feet to flatten it. There were a couple of skinks and huhu grubs. In total our class planted 240 plants. We went to the beach and got some sticks to put around our plants to give insects and skinks a home. After all the plants were planted we went back onto the bus and went back to school. It was such a good day.
